11 authors create 10-minute scrips for Dóchas

THE work of several new writers will be brought to life in Killarney this week as Dóchas Drama Group takes to the stage at the Killarney Avenue Hotel.

The group’s request for the submission of 10-minute scripts resulted in the revelation of many new writers who contributed their work under the theme The Letter.

The drama group members were amazed how varied the interpretation of the theme actually was and they said choosing an entertaining selection was a challenge. Now it’s time for audiences to view the plays and decide for themselves.

The work to be staged includes Third Window from the Right, Ungilded Cage, Veneer, Lost Time, The Missive, Bring Your A Game, The Technophobe and Ink on the Brink.

The series of short plays will be staged in just over two hours at the Killarney Avenue Hotel, commencing this Tuesday night and running nightly up to and including Friday.

Scott Mullen, who is based in Los Angeles, Killarney man, Brian Bowler, German native, Claudia Grodotzki, the very talented Rebecca Fitzgerald from Firies and Hazel Joy from Beaufort have all written short plays that will be featured. Sonia Elston, a native of Nottingham, London born Siobhán O’Flaherty, Michael Nolan from Cork and published and prizewinning writers, Méabh de Brún, Mary McCarthy and Liz Ryan make up the 11 authors.

A total of 20 actors, five directors, a supportive production team and a front of house team will be involved.

The performances will commence at 8.00pm nightly and admission will be €10.
